Current Research
CC* CIRA: ICARE+: Addressing Montana's Digital Equity Gap
National Science Foundation
This project aims to enhance internet connectivity for Montana's Tribal Colleges and Universities, fostering collaboration, improving access to online resources, and promoting digital equity to support research, academics, and regional higher education.
CC* Data Storage: Improving Research Ability with Data Storage at the University of Montana
National Science Foundation
This project aims to enhance its research cyberinfrastructure by acquiring a flexible, high-capacity data storage system to support diverse research needs, improve performance, and enable collaboration within the Montana University System, Tribal Colleges, and the national research community.
Past Research
CC* Networking Infrastructure: Deploying a Science DMZ to Advance Research at the University of Montana
National Science Foundation
This project aims to enhance its research capabilities by implementing a Science DMZ network, with advanced hardware and security measures, to support high-performance data transfer, collaboration, and student-led research across diverse disciplines.
ICARE: Growing Research Infrastructure Through Montana INBRE (GRITI)
Montana IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence
This project aims to grow HPC resources and creating an environment for students to utilize HPC resources in a classroom setting.
CC* Compute: Improved Computing for Advanced Research and Education (ICARE)
National Science Foundation
This project addresses the need for improved cyberinfrastructure by establishing the first-ever shared high-performance computing cluster at UM, enhancing collaboration between IT professionals and researchers across various disciplines for projects including natural disaster forecasting, biodiversity modeling, drug design, DNA sequencing, and genomic responses to climate change.
Collaborative Research: New science, tools, and observations to couple geodesy with hydrology for modeling, water storage change, and streamflow forecasting in mountain watersheds
National Science Foundation
This project aims to use advanced geophysical techniques, including GNSS, to study mountain watersheds in the western USA, leading to improved understanding of water storage and flow, the development of hydrologic models, and the creation of tools for better water-resource management, including an early-warning system for flood risk and droughts.
CC-NIE Integration: Advancing Research through Network Improvements (ARNI)
National Science Foundation
This project aims to enhances high-speed connections for key research sites, enabling collaboration, expanding research impact, and benefiting projects in genomics, geodynamics, and fire hazard prediction.
